Sweden boards tanker Sea Owl I over suspected false Comorian flag

Swedish police boarded the 228-metre tanker Sea Owl I off Trelleborg on Sweden's southern coast, The Moscow Times reported. The coast guard said it suspected the ship, which flies the Comoros flag, was not on that country's register and was sailing under a false flag, and opened a preliminary investigation into a lack of seaworthiness. According to the coast guard, the vessel is on an EU sanctions list and has carried oil products between Brazil and Russia in recent years. It left Santos, Brazil, on 15 February; tracking showed Tallinn as its destination, but Swedish authorities said it was bound for Primorsk near St Petersburg.
