US issues temporary waiver for Russian oil already at sea, including on sanctioned tankers
The US Treasury issued a 30-day authorisation, expiring on 11 April, allowing the sale, delivery and offloading of Russian crude and oil products loaded on or before 12 March, Lloyd's List reported. The waiver covers cargoes on vessels that may be blocked under Russia-related and certain Iran-related sanctions, and permits supporting services such as docking, bunkering, emergency repairs and insurance. It excludes any dealings involving Iran or Iranian-origin goods. Lloyd's List estimated that about 60m barrels of Russian crude were within range of India, of which some 36m barrels were aboard sanctioned ships. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the aim was stability in global energy markets.
