US sanctions three UAE ship managers and 11 vessels in Iranian oil trade

The US State Department has sanctioned three UAE-based ship managers and 11 vessels over Iran's petroleum and petrochemical trade, citing Iran's expansion of uranium enrichment, gCaptain reports. The companies are Sea Route Ship Management, Almanac Ship Management and Al Anchor Ship Management. The vessels include the tankers Astra, Baltic Horizon, Nile, Yamuna, Berenice Pride, Euro Viking, Euro Fortune, Arabian Energy, Parine and Road, plus the tug Harmony. According to the report, Astra carried petrochemical products in November 2021, and Berenice Pride and Parine moved petroleum products in October 2022. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the US was committed to never letting Iran obtain a nuclear weapon.
