US sanctions 29 Iran shadow fleet tankers and an Egyptian businessman

The US Treasury sanctioned 29 vessels it says belong to Iran's shadow fleet, together with their management firms and Egyptian businessman Hatem Elsaid Farid Ibrahim Sakr, whose companies it links to seven of the ships. Treasury says the tankers carried hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of Iranian petroleum to buyers in Asia using deceptive practices, and that more than 180 vessels have been sanctioned over Iranian petroleum since January. Those listed include Seamull, the former name of the tanker later known as Sibu 1.
