Russia halts Don-Azov traffic after Ukraine claims strikes on 21 tankers

Russia temporarily suspended navigation through the Don-Azov Canal after overnight Ukrainian drone strikes on vessels in the Sea of Azov, the Kyiv Independent reported, citing Reuters. Ukrainian drone commander Robert Brovdi said the attack damaged 21 tankers, four tugboats, two dry cargo ships and one specialised vessel, and claimed traffic through the Kerch Strait appeared to have stopped. Reuters reported on 10 July that Russian border guards had stopped accepting applications for Kerch Strait passage with no reopening date. Wheat futures rose 4% on supply concerns, as up to a quarter of Russia's wheat exports pass through the Sea of Azov.
