European navies step up action against tankers falsely flying Cameroon's flag
European countries are intensifying enforcement against tankers carrying Russian oil under fraudulent Cameroonian registrations, including boardings at sea, according to Reuters reporting carried by gCaptain. Nine ships have been detained by French, Belgian, British and Swedish forces since early 2026, five of them flying Cameroon's flag. France seized the Deliver near Sicily on 25 June even though it had been removed from Cameroon's registry. Cameroon has de-listed 39 vessels after finding that two websites were being used fraudulently to assign its flag. The EU was preparing further listings for mid-July, Reuters reported.
