Royal Navy reports 21 days shadowing Russian ships, including frigate escorting shadow tankers

Royal Navy warships and helicopters spent 21 days in July monitoring Russian activity in UK waters and the North Atlantic, a 25% rise on a year earlier, the UK government said. It said the Russian frigate Neustrashimy repeatedly crossed the UK's area of responsibility escorting shadow fleet tankers in recognised traffic lanes, and that HMS Tyne observed it firing its guns during one transit. The government said the UK has sanctioned more than 500 vessels and that Russia's oil and gas revenues fell 24% in 2025.
