US sanctions Maduro relatives, Venezuelan shipping firms and six tankers

The US Treasury sanctioned three nephews of Cilia Flores, wife of Venezuela's Nicolás Maduro, a businessman linked to Maduro and six shipping companies in Venezuela's oil sector. It also identified six vessels it accuses of deceptive and unsafe shipping practices that generate money for what it calls Maduro's illegitimate regime. Secretary Scott Bessent said the measures reverse the previous US administration's approach to Venezuela. The ships include White Crane, Kiara M and Monique.
