US jet disables Iran-bound sanctioned tanker Marivex in Gulf of Oman

An F/A-18 Super Hornet from USS Abraham Lincoln fired a precision munition into the engine and steering spaces of the Palau-flagged tanker Marivex (IMO 9464156), formerly Arihant, after its crew ignored instructions while heading for an Iranian port, gCaptain reports, citing US Central Command. No one was hurt and the ship was empty. Treasury sanctioned the vessel in December 2025, saying it had carried Iranian fuel oil and bitumen as part of Iran's shadow fleet. It was the seventh vessel disabled since the blockade began in April.
