Malta seeks price-cap attestations over Russian diesel carried by its tanker Agioi Fanendes, Kyiv Independent reports
Malta's sanctions unit says it is seeking attestations from the owners and operators of the Malta-flagged tanker Agioi Fanendes, which is carrying about 40,000 tonnes of Russian diesel from Primorsk towards New York, the Kyiv Independent reports. According to the publication, a European Commission spokesperson confirmed that EU operators may transport Russian oil products only if they were sold at or below the price cap, and Commission guidance says shipowners should obtain an attestation from the customer to that effect. The Kyiv Independent says the ship is owned by Greece's Eastern Mediterranean Maritime, which had not confirmed receiving one. Citing Reuters, it says the buyer, seller and price of the cargo are unknown.
