US says blockade has stopped 42 vessels and stranded 69 million barrels of Iranian oil

US Central Command chief Admiral Brad Cooper said US forces had intercepted 42 vessels under the blockade of Iranian ports, leaving 41 tankers carrying about 69 million barrels of oil, worth over $6 billion, unable to sail, All India Radio reports. Cooper called the blockade highly effective. Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters called it piracy, said its forces had not intervened because crew members' families were aboard, and warned of unprecedented military action in response.
