Houthi missiles hit China-run tanker Huang Pu after Russian port call
Houthi missiles struck the Panama-flagged suezmax Huang Pu in the Red Sea on 23 March, according to US Central Command, Lloyd's List reports. The China-owned and operated tanker was heading to India after calling at the Russian oil port of Ust-Luga from 27 to 29 February, where its draught increased, indicating it loaded cargo. CENTCOM said the ship sustained minimal damage and a fire on board was put out within 30 minutes. The attack came days after media reports that the Houthis had agreed safe passage for Chinese and Russian vessels. Lloyd's List notes the tanker had been owned by UK firm Union Maritime until late 2023.
