French navy boards tanker Tagor in the Atlantic west of Brittany

French forces boarded and detained the oil tanker Tagor in international waters roughly 400 nautical miles west of Brittany, President Emmanuel Macron announced on 1 June, saying the operation had British and allied support. According to The Moscow Times, the vessel had sailed from Murmansk and was linked to Russia's so-called shadow fleet. MarineLink reported that commandos descended onto the ship from helicopters on 31 May and that it was being escorted to an anchorage off north-western France. The Kremlin described the seizure as illegal. Both outlets said it was the fourth such French interception, and The Moscow Times noted that the three earlier tankers resumed their voyages after fines were paid.
