Russia-bound tanker Elbus damaged in Black Sea drone attack off Turkey

The Palau-flagged Suezmax tanker Elbus was damaged on 8 January when it was attacked by what Splash247 described as an unmanned marine vehicle and drone around 30 miles off the Turkish coast. The 2005-built ship was heading east to the Russian port of Novorossiysk. Splash247 said the upper part of the vessel was hit, no injuries or pollution were reported, and the tanker reached İnebolu under its own power, where Turkish coast guard teams assisted. No one claimed the attack; Ukraine had not taken responsibility. Naval News, citing Reuters and Turkish media, said Russian broadcaster NTV called it an attack on a Russia-linked vessel.
