CREA counts 158 'shadow' tankers among ships carrying Russian oil in June
Russia's daily earnings from fossil fuel exports fell by 5% to EUR 664 million in June, the lowest monthly level of 2024, according to the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA). In its monthly analysis, published on 12 July, CREA says 158 of the 289 tankers that exported Russian crude and oil products in June were 'shadow' tankers, with an average age of 17 years. Tankers covered by the price cap moved 36% of Russia's seaborne crude and products. CREA estimates that thorough enforcement of the price cap would have cut Russia's revenues by 8%, or about EUR 19.52 billion, since sanctions began.
