Novorossiysk harbour master orders owner of drone-hit tanker Aframax Rio to secure the ship, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports
The harbour master of Russia's Novorossiysk port has ordered RIO Enterprises, owner of the Liberian-flagged tanker Aframax Rio, to act urgently to prevent an oil spill, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports. According to the paper, the tanker, struck by uncrewed boats off Sochi on 6 October, lies at anchor at a Novorossiysk berth that harbour officials consider unsafe in storms, with no crew, no power and its fire detection and bilge systems not working. The order, valid until 31 October, requires the owner to monitor the ship constantly, hire salvage specialists, keep tugs on standby and report back, the paper says. It adds that the regional emergencies ministry says minor oil traces on Novorossiysk's shore are not linked to the tanker.
