Fourteen tankers of Russian Sokol crude stuck off South Korea, Reuters reports

More than a dozen tankers carrying about 10 million barrels of Russian Sokol crude were idling off South Korea's Yosu port, unsold because of US sanctions and payment problems, Reuters reported on 26 January. The volume equals more than 45 days of output from the Sakhalin-1 project, according to the report. The vessels named include the VLCCs La Balena, Nireta and Nellis and 11 Aframax tankers, among them the Krymsk, NS Lion, Sakhalin Island and Viktor Titov. Reuters said deliveries to Indian Oil Corp had stalled over a disagreement about which currency would be used for payment.
