US targets eight firms and nine tankers moving Iranian oil

The US Treasury and State Department targeted eight entities and nine vessels on 19 December over what Treasury describes as a network moving Iranian petroleum and petrochemicals. Treasury designated four companies registered in the Marshall Islands, Liberia and Hong Kong and identified the tankers MS Enola, MS Angia and MS Melenia. The State Department designated four firms in the Seychelles, India, Suriname and Hong Kong and identified six vessels: Avital, Vigor, Progress V, Scorpius, Tasca and Eliza II. Treasury says the trade funds Iran's nuclear and missile programmes and its proxies.
