Iranian oil transfers continue off Malaysia despite US blockade
Iranian oil continues to be moved through Malaysia's Eastern Outer Port Limits anchorage despite the US naval blockade, Al Jazeera reported. The Iranian tanker Humanity switched off its tracking transponder on arriving there, which experts said pointed to a planned ship-to-ship transfer, probably for China. Satellite data cited by the broadcaster showed 62 ships using false identities since January on routes between the Gulf, the anchorage and China, and 18 Iranian-flagged tankers going dark there in the past month. Al Jazeera said the US blockade ran from 13 April to 18 June and resumed on 14 July. Malaysia amended its EEZ law in June to restrict unauthorised transfers.
