Seoul rejects Ukrainian criticism over fuel shipped to Russia on sanctioned tankers

South Korea's presidential office has rejected as "inaccurate and inappropriate" Ukrainian criticism of fuel shipments from South Korean ports to Russia, the Korea JoongAng Daily reports. Ukraine's presidential sanctions commissioner, Vladyslav Vlasiuk, wrote on Facebook on 6 October that the deliveries began just as Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries had cut output and caused fuel shortages. His comments followed a Guardian analysis finding that seven tankers, three of them under UK and EU sanctions, carried more than 176,000 tonnes of fuel from South Korea to Russia in July and August. Seoul said key facts, including the parties involved and the final buyers, had not been verified, and that it would check the facts and review export-control matters.
