US sanctions three more tankers carrying Russian Urals crude above the price cap

The US on 1 December sanctioned three companies and their tankers for carrying Russian oil above the price cap, gCaptain reports. The targets are UAE-based Sterling Shipping, owner of NS Champion; UAE-based Streymoy Shipping Limited, owner of Viktor Bakaev; and Liberia-based HS Atlantica Ltd, owner of HS Atlantica. According to the Treasury, the ships carried Urals crude priced above $70 a barrel, against the $60 cap, while using US-person services such as transport, insurance and financing. A general licence allows limited safety and environmental transactions until 29 February. Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo called enforcement of the cap "a top priority" for the US and its partners.
