EU sanctions three shadow fleet service firms and a Russian crude trader for helping circumvent sanctions
The Council of the EU on 15 October imposed asset freezes on nine entities and three individuals it accuses of helping circumvent EU sanctions on Russia, with travel bans for the individuals. Four of the entities are oil-related: the Council describes DIS Logistics DMCC, Vigor Marine Services LLP and Shiva Shipping Ltd as part of the shadow fleet ecosystem, and Hurus Trade FZE as a trading intermediary supplying Russian-origin crude oil to India. According to the Council, the oil-related listings involve firms in the United Arab Emirates, India and the Seychelles. The remaining listings cover Russian and Turkish trading, logistics and payment companies. The Council likened circumventing its sanctions to aiding and abetting Russia's war against Ukraine.
