US says 130 ships turned back since Iran blockade resumed in July

US Central Command says its forces redirected a commercial vessel in the Middle East on Monday, the 130th turned back since the US naval blockade of Iran resumed on 14 July, according to the Anadolu agency, as carried by Pakistan's The Nation. CENTCOM said US forces had also disabled three ships that refused to comply and destroyed 13 commercial vessels over the previous 12 weeks. It described the ships as either breaching the blockade or tied to the Revolutionary Guards' "multibillion-dollar shadow network". CENTCOM commander Adm. Brad Cooper said US forces would act swiftly against any vessel trying to run the blockade.
